Chest Day: SHOULDERS SORE AFTER CHEST DAY? PECS TIGHT? @HartRehab FROM THIS? TRY THIS! Try this quick cool down exercise following your chest workouts OPEN UP YOUR TIGHT CHEST . Had a great response to the 🎥Leg Day Recovery Routine video from last night, and a lot of you aksed for an upper body routine. So I'll definitely be putting that together for you all very soon. In the meantime, @hartrehab showed this quick and efficient way to stretch the pecs after a heavy lift sesh. It will pair well with the Tight Pec Routine I posted a couple weeks back. . Why should you do this? Although you may feel that your pecs are "tight" after a workout, specific tightness in the pec minor can actually lead to shoulder irritation. . Imagine you have a good workout and go home to either: 👉Study (maybe on your laptop) 👉Sit on the couch - watch TV 👉Sleep (any side sleepers out there?) . ...You then go to work the next day and sit for a prolonged period of time typing and mousing away. . What all these things have in common is that your shoulders tend to be drawn into a forward-rounded position...essentially meaning that you're reinforcing a tight - shortened pec minor! NOT WHAT WE WANT!🙅 . So based off the picture above we can see that this is a pretty simple passive stretch that you can do with just the use of a foam roller. The medial border of your shoulder blade are blocked by the foam roller and you're able to get a solid stretch through the chest. ↔ Try moving your arms through an arc motion to focus on different fibers of the muscle. Lastly, make sure you're breathing deeply and slowly because the pec minor attaches to the ribs, which means breathing can impact your stretch. .
