It was way closer to my home, and I had almost a decade of experience working in a coffee shop at that point.  Got to the interview, and it turned out they didn’t want a barista, they wanted someone to spearhead their new cafe, as the cafe that had been in the store before didn’t want to resign their lease with the bookshop. They wanted to put their own cafe in its place, all new menus etc. They needed someone experienced to train their new staff, to handle window displays, to communicate with the bookstore owners about changes and needs of the cafe, to be able to handle inventory and ordering. Okay, I had basically done most of that stuff at my previous job. I asked if cafe positions would also be required/trained to work the bookstore. They would. They would be required to run the book sale counter, stock and reshelf books, and help bookshop customers find things. They would also–despite having an outside cleaning company–have to help maintain bathroom cleanliness. They’d have to take out trash, and clean spills, and vacuum. Wow, that’s a lot, I said. Is this a manager’s position, then? No, I was told, it wasn’t, but there was a chance that after a training period it might become one. And that made me pause, because I’d been working as the front-of-house manager at my cafe, and I knew how much work that entailed, and what kind of money I was making, and it was only the commute that had me looking for a new job.So I asked what the job paid.$8. E I G H T  D O L L A R S. Per hour. Barely above minimum. For all of that work. For someone they expected to get an entirely new cafe up and running, and then also do the work of the bookstore and the cleaning company as well. I thanked the woman for the interview, said I’d have to talk to my significant other about the impact a four dollar pay cut would have on our finances, and that I wasn’t sure it was the job for me. She asked me to sleep on it, and she’d call me the next day. This is a job I was way more than qualified for. I had years of experience doing exactly the things they wanted. It was a convenient location, close to my home–I could walk there if I absolutely had to. I did not go home and talk about that four dollar pay cut and what it would do to our finances. I knew as soon as she told me that not only was it not feasible for us, it was downright insulting. That little money? For a frankly ridiculous list of responsibilities and expectations? She called back the next day. I thanked her again, and told her in no uncertain terms that my time was worth way more than what they were offering. And whenever people bitch about Millennials being lazy, not spending money, not buying houses…whatever the complaint of the month is…I think about the very nice lady who conducted this interview, and how confused she was that I didn’t want the job.

Crazy, Energy, and Friends: The less you respond to negativity, the more peaceful your life becomes. This might seem crazy and counterintuitive, but it’s true! . Let me explain by referring back to a common saying: ‘Tell me who your friends are and I will tell you who you are.” Growing up, my parents were always telling me this. It’s so true. . The friends we choose reflect who we are and who we want to be. . Now that I run my own business, that saying makes even more sense to me. . We’ve got to be very protective of our environment and carefully examine every new person who comes into our lives. . Why? Because our success depends on the type of people we surround ourselves with on a day-to-day basis. We need rich networks of individuals who believe in—and support—our mission. We all get this point. . But. . . When it comes to clients, we often just accept whoever walks through our doors or wants to purchase our services online. . We allow ourselves to work with clients who aren’t always quite right for us. . Myth: What’s the big deal? A client is a client. Fact: Not all clients are created equal. . When you start working with less-than-ideal clients, you block business with the ideal ones. . As small business owners, you can’t accept an unlimited amount of clients. When you accept someone who’s not a perfect fit, you’re letting that person take the spot of someone who would energize and inspire you. . Myth: I need the money. Fact: You lose money working with less-than-ideal clients. . They drain you of energy and cause you to drag your feet. You might be giving them your best, but they might not be ready to do the work necessary for getting the best possible results. Or you might not be fully motivated to work on their projects, which, in turn, can lead to dissatisfaction and requests for refunds! . Advice, Ass, and Bless Up: Family time is good doggo time.. @DrSmashlove So yesterday one of my followers asked me to write about the perfect bj. And just like that...writers block gone 😂. Now this is a topic that's near and dear to my heat bc I'm not a huge fan of blowski's, so for a blowski to catch my fancy it gotta be legendary. Why? The answer is twofold: (1) nothing beats the soft, warm confines of the four walls of the Punanius Maximus. (2) I don't beat my meat so when I bust, a lot has built up by then, and I'm a fire hose 🤗💦. Now look. As a brother, we can't just engage in extremely reckless activity. We might squeeze your throat, but not too hard. Give you a sexy lil slap...but not to hard. U feel me? This shit wouldn't play well in a police report 😕. So likewise what if attempt to empty the banana clip in yo throat and I "over-produced"? What if yo lungs are overwhelmed and u drown? Bam: smash in handcuffs being interrogated for homicide by one of them big ass coppers who's mainly fat but also some muscle so he built like a port-a-potty with a crew cut and he all: "AT ANY TIME MR. SMASH DID YOU EVER FEEL LIKE MAYBE THE GAGGING MEANT SHE COULDN'T BREATHE?" Me: "sir I plead the fif until my Jewish lawyer get her it's Saturday afternoon so we it's gon be a couples hours until sunset he observes the sabbath bless up thank you 💕." So what's a good bj? Forget about everything Cosmo magazine told u. About using your hand to twist and pull and create a funnel etc. I've been with exactly one girl who converted me when it came to head-top and the way she did it is, she wouldn't let me bust anywhere except her throat. I would physically try to retreat and she lunge forward and throw it in her throat and look up at me with tears in her eyes while she took every drop. So my advice? Let the throat do the work, and drown on the dih 🤗😂. A bit painful but as when u eat the Nani - U gotta submerse yourself to get the full effect. One more thing. This girl, who is a legend, never - ever - bragged about her prowess. Let this be a lesson to yall who spend hours talmbout how incredible your ___ game is. This might seem crazy and counterintuitive, but it’s true. . { TAG SOMEONE 👇} Let me explain by referring back to a common saying: ‘Tell me who your friends are and I will tell you who you are.” . Growing up, my parents were always telling me this. It’s so true. The friends we choose reflect who we are and who we want to be. A client is a client. . Fact: Not all clients are created equal. . When you start working with less-than-ideal clients, you block business with the ideal ones. As small business owners, you can’t accept an unlimited amount of clients. When you accept someone who’s not a perfect fit, you’re letting that person take the spot of someone who would energize and inspire you. . Myth: I need the money. . Fact: You lose money working with less-than-ideal clients. They drain you of energy and cause you to drag your feet. . You might be giving them your best, but they might not be ready to do the work necessary for getting the best possible results. Or you might not be fully motivated to work on their projects, which, in turn, can lead to dissatisfaction and requests for refunds! . As counterintuitive as it may sound, being exclusive will get you booked solid much faster than keeping your doors open for whoever walks into them. 🥊 @timkarsliyev . success relationshipgoals goals money shutyourmouth -
