Apparently, Family, and Head: wwwoslightlywarped.com sixpenceee: The Witch of Joshua Ward House This Georgian and Federal style building was constructed by Joshua Ward, a wealthy merchant sea captain, in the late 1780s on the remaining foundations of former sheriff George Corwin’s house on Washington Street in Salem, Massachusetts. Corwin was a bloody figure whose zeal added to the unfortunate events surrounding Salem in the late 1600s. Nicknamed ‘The Strangler’ after his preferred torture (which included tying his prone victims’ necks to their ankles until the blood ran from their noses), he is said to have been responsible for many of the ‘witches’’ deaths, including that of Giles Corey who was crushed to death by placing heavy stones on his chest in order to extract a confession. Legend states that just before he died, Corey cursed the sheriff and all sheriffs that follow in his wake, for Corwin’s despicable acts. It should be noted here that every sheriff since Corey uttered his curse died while in office or had been “forced out of his post as the result of a heart or blood ailment.” Corwin himself died of a heart attack in 1696, only about four years after the end of the trials.  By the time of his death, Corwin was so despised that his family had to bury him in the cellar of their house to avoid desecration of the corpse by the public. In the early 1980s Carlson Realty bought the House with the intention of turning it into their headquarters. After moving in, a realtor by the name of Dale Lewinski began the task of taking photographs of the staff members to add to a welcome display.  Lewinski used a Polaroid camera to snap the head-and-shoulders, passport-style pictures. It was the photograph of a colleague by the name of Lorraine St. Peter that caused a stir. The Polaroid was developed and, instead of showing St. Peter, it appeared to depict a frightening image: a strange, black-haired, feminine figure. St. Peter was nowhere to be seen on the snap. The photograph has, apparently, not been cropped at all. St. Peter has been entirely replaced by the apparition.

You get what you pay for… Since when is $250 considered “cheap” for a family photo? what lol When you value a freelancer’s actual talent enough to pay then real money for doing a real job. Yeah, $250 is definitely on the lower end for professional photographs. I have quite a few photographer friends. As a mercenary soul-caputurer myself, yeah, you get what you fucking pay for. Photography has the same costs as any other business. The price you charge has to cover the cost of materials (film if you’re shooting old school, prints, maintenance for your camera whether analog or digital), labor (time spent setting up and shooting), and overhead (gas, food, website hosting costs, etc. if you need it to do some part of the job, it’s in your overhead). Now those are just your operating costs, if you want to actually make money you have to add a percentage for profit (e.g. operating costs + 20%). Let me give you non-photographers a frame of reference here. Paying $250 for a single-day private photo session on location (which means travel costs on top of everything else), is the equivalent of paying $50 for a huge ornate wedding cake you ordered the day before the wedding. This ‘tog is still severely unprofessional and unqualified, though. I consider myself still a beginner but taking good photos in bright sunlight isn’t hard, I do it all the time. Like literally three-quarters of my flickr is all natural light shoots, it’s easier than studio shoots in some ways (light source, directionality, and intensity is constant on a clear day; you don’t have to worry about flash timing; the only thing you need to control for is your camera settings, etc.). I really don’t understand how they screwed this shoot so badly.Other things wrong with this cheap shoot:Out of focusLow contrastLow saturationBad white balanceGrainyThere’s really no excuse for this, it’s all very basic stuff. I took ONE photography class in college and I’ve only been shooting off and on for a couple of years, and I could still do a better shoot than this. in this study, white female undergrads
overestimated the age of black teenage
boys by an average of 4.5 years. these
women are barely out of their teens
 themselves imagine how much
 stronger that tendency to overestimate
is if you're a racist old man
The students were also shown photographs
alongside descriptions of various crimes and
asked to assess the age and innocence of white,
black or Latino boys ages 10 to 17. The students
overestimated the age of blacks by an average
of 4.5 years and found them more culpable than
 EGO DEATH
or Latinos, particularly when the boys
were matched with serious crimes, the study
 found. Researchers used questionnaires to
 assess the participants' prejudice and
dehumanization of blacks. They found that
participants who implicitly associated blacks with
apes thought the black children were older and
 less innocent.

blackqueerblog:what the hell

I’m six years older than my step sister but people have been assuming for YEARS that she’s older than me because she’s taller than me. This is going to backfire so badly.

it’s not going to backfire. they want it to turn out badly, they know what they’re doing here. it’s calculated.

The council gave Sheeran a list of options for privacy “railings”, and after changing the proposal Sheeran was given permission that was more in line with the neighbourhood, which is in a conservation area.  A direct quote from Sheeran states: “Dear Natalie Edwards from The Sun newspaper. Your story is bollocks, I have done lots of work in the past for Crisis and Shelter and would never build railings outside my home for that reason. The reason was to keep the paps that you employ from being on my doorstep. Have a good day.” this comment has been substantiated by the local police and security companies that Sheeran and his neighbours have had to contact previously when paparazzi have been taking photographs not only of Sheeran’s house but inside his windows, and constantly knocking on his door and yelling outside his house. Think about this for a moment, a guy bought a house and fixed it up, he was trying to gain some privacy by asking for a simple fence and gate to indicate the property line and gain some distance from the paps, - which the police and council said was fine - and the newspapers who can no longer use these ill-gotten photos and are probably pissed have managed to spin this story to make it seem that this guy (whether you like his music or not), is an asshole and is anti-homeless. And you’re all eating this shit up and believing the newspapers, even though the Sun and Telegraph are well known across the UK for making shit up and lying. smh.  These days you have to fact-check 97% of newspaper articles as much as reddit trolls.
